“Browse” a Shelf
Here's a trick you can use in the online catalog to browse the library shelf online.
Let's say you're looking for self-help books. In real life, you'd ask us and we'd direct you to the 158s section, where you'd browse the titles on the shelf. Here's how to do the same thing online:
1. From the Framingham Public Library website, select Catalog:
2. Enter self-help as a keyword. Select Framingham as Location, and BOOK as Format:
3. Click a title that interests you, let's say The last self-help book you'll ever need: repress your anger...:
4. Click the call number:
5. And voilà, a graphical representation of how the items would appear on the physical shelf. (Note that this representation does not reflect the availability of the item. Click an item to see if it's available.) Click the forward and back arrows to browse:
