Author Event: Celebrating Naval Historian James David Hornfischer
James David Hornfischer has been called “The Dean of American Naval Historians” among his countless accolades and awards. His four historical accounts are US Navy Classics and won Jim the highest award bestowed upon a civilian by the Navy. “Who Can Hold the Sea: The US Navy in the Cold War 1945-1960,” was his final book, and was written during his own two-year, losing battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer. The program will be led by Jim’s parents, Framingham residents David and Elsa Hornfischer, along with Chris Newton, narrator of the new new book and a treasured friend of Jim since high school. They will touch on Jim’s life, his acclaimed Naval histories, and give primary focus and a few readings from the new book identifying many of the issues of the early stages of the Cold War, which remain relevant today.
