    Early American Film 1897-1925: The Vitagraph Company

    The Vitagraph motion picture company was one of the pioneering silent film companies in the US and for a time was the most prolific and most successful. The company introduced feature length films, art films, comedies, special effects and animation. In 1925, Vitagraph was sold to Warner Brothers.
