Long-Range Plan, 2027–2032
In 2020, Framingham Public Library shared our most recent long-range plan with the Framingham community. This document identified five community-centered goals to achieve over five years.
From 2021 to 2026, the Library implemented new ideas and changes to achieve these goals, including:
- Growing the Library of Things to over 800 items—and counting—for patrons to check out.
- Opening the Technology Learning Center to host hands-on, community classes.
- Eliminating late fees!
Along with that, we continue our partnership with Framingham State University with our well-attended Lifelong Learning Lecture Series. Our support for Early Childhood Alliance, the Homework Center, and Literacy Unlimited remains strong, providing much needed services to our community.
As we near 2026, it's time for us to prepare for our next long-range plan. To do that, we need your help again! Your input is critical. For decades, the Framingham Library has provided services, programs, and resources to meet your needs. Your input helps us identify those needs.
In the coming months, we will reach out to you, our patrons, to find out where you see the Library in the coming years. Starting now, we want to know:
What is the most important thing the Library does for the community?
Is there something or some things--services, resources, or materials-- that the Library provides the community that you can't do without? Maybe this thing is found only at the Library and nowhere else. Maybe this thing is intangible, for instance, a sense of belonging when you're at the Library. No matter what it is, let us know.
Please submit your answer online by November 30.
What is a Long-Range Plan?
A long-range plan is a strategic document that outlines key long-term goals. This plan serves as a roadmap, giving us clear direction for the years ahead. It helps us predict future trends and respond to oncoming challenges. With a long-range plan, we can take the necessary steps to achieve our goals.
