In 2020, Framingham Public Library released its most recent long-range plan. This document identified five community-centered goals to achieve over five years.

From 2021 to 2026, the Library implemented new ideas and changes to achieve these goals. We grew the Library of Things to over 800 items for patrons to borrow. We created the Technology Learning Center to host hands-on, community classes. We even eliminated late fees!

In addition, our partnership with Framingham State University continues with our successful Lifelong Learning series. Our support for Early Childhood Alliance, the Homework Center, and Literacy Unlimited remains strong, providing much needed services to our community.

As we near 2026, it’s time for us to prepare for our next long-range plan. To do that, we need your help again! Your input is critical. For decades, we've provided services, programs, and resources to meet your needs. Your input helps us identify those needs.

In the coming months, we will reach out to you, our patrons, to find out where you see the Library in the coming years. Starting now, we want to know:

What should your public library be doing in the next 5 years?

A lot is changing culturally, technologically, and socially. What can the Library do to keep pace with these changes? Please submit your answer by September 30.

What is a Long-Range Plan?

A long-range plan is a strategic document that outlines key long-term goals. This plan serves as a roadmap, giving us clear direction. It helps us predict future trends and respond to oncoming challenges. With a long-range plan, we can take manageable steps to achieve our goals.
