Remembering Robert “Bob” Dodd, Library Trustee and Friend

It is with deep sorrow that the Framingham Public Library says goodbye to longtime Library Trustee Robert “Bob” Dodd.

Bob was first elected to the Framingham Board of Library Trustees in 2000 and spent more than 26 years championing the Library, its staff, its programs, and the people of Framingham.

A social worker and dedicated advocate for his profession, Bob understood that the work of a public library reaches far beyond books. He believed deeply in connecting people with one another and with the resources, culture, information, and support that strengthen a community. He was an early and passionate advocate for the role of social work in public libraries.

Bob also brought to the Library an extraordinary love of music. For many years, he championed the Library’s concerts and musical programming. In 2022, in recognition of his tremendous contributions, the Library’s Sunday Concert Series was renamed the Bob Dodd Sunday Concert Series.

For more than a quarter century, Bob showed up for this Library. He advocated for it. He supported its staff. He believed in its mission and in its future. His influence can be found throughout the institution he served for so long.

We extend our deepest condolences to Bob’s wife, Annabel, his family, his fellow Trustees, and the many friends and community members whose lives he touched.

The Framingham Public Library is a better place because Bob Dodd was part of it.

His name will continue to be spoken here whenever music fills the Library.
