Most of us agree that we want safe, healthy gardens that benefit us and wildlife. Organic gardening sounds ideal, but does that mean? Entomologist and gardener Natalie Tessicini will teach you the basic concepts of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), a systematic approach to gardening that will help you achieve your goals and live by your values.
Join the Massachusetts Horticultural Society and explore the many facets of agriculture and the food we eat every day! Make connections to plant parts and inherited traits, and tinker with ways to improve our agricultural systems and make connections to the history of New England Farming! Space and supplies limited. Preserve the beauty of the garden long after the growing season has passed. In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn the fundamentals of drying flowers before creating your own floral shadow box arrangement. Using a selection of dried blooms and natural materials, you'll design a unique piece of botanical art that captures the color, texture, and charm of the natural world.
Your finished shadow box will be ready to display in your home for years to come or can be given as a thoughtful handmade gift. No experience is necessary, and all materials are provided. Participants will leave with a completed arrangement and the knowledge to continue preserving flowers at home.
