Lifelong Learning Lecture: "Textiles as Storytellers: from the Bayeux Tapestry to Bisa Butler"
Presented by Professor Pam Sebor-Cable, Associate Professor, Fashion Design and Retailing Department, FSU
History is often told through the art of quilts and tapestries. Textiles as Storytellers explores how we learn about historic events, social conditions, and the politics of a time through the creative stitchery of textile artists. Through this medium, artists are often able to elicit a deeper meaning than words alone. Discover a variety of works in cloth that tell us stories of monumental events as well as everyday life.
