Dr. Sy Stokes: Freedom of Speech and the Politics of Morality

Wednesday March 30, 2022 | 4:30-5:30pm | Virtual Event

Dr. Sy Stokes is this year's Olivia A. Davidson Voices of Color Speaker and will deliver a talk titled Freedom of Speech and the Politics of Morality: Campus Racial Climate in the Modern Era. This is particularly timely given events that have taken place at FSU and across the United States.

Dr. Stokes directs Coqual's qualitative research team in identifying solutions for advancing equity in the workplace. Prior to Coqual, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for the National Center for Institutional Diversity at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Stokes is also the recipient of the 2021 University of Southern California Rossier School of Education Ph.D. Dissertation of the Year Award for his dissertation, Into the Wildfire: Campus Racial Climate and the Trump Presidency. His research interrogates capitalism, nationalism, white supremacy, and racism; and examines the ways that college students respond to campus racism through activism and political engagement. As an undergraduate and graduate student, Dr. Stokes gained national acclaim for his spoken word performances of "The Black Bruins" and "Dear White Counselor."

Art and Photography Exhibition - BRACE 10 Year Anniversary

It is with great pleasure that Brazilian American Center-BRACE announces our 10th anniversary of providing excellent service to the community. This is a special occasion that deserves celebration.

To celebrate this anniversary, you and your family are cordially invited as our valued guest to an special event that will take place on March 19th, 2022, at Saint Tarcisius Parish Hall, located at 562 Waverly Street, Framingham, MA 01702 starting at eight o’clock in the evening.

We will be hosting  Art and Photography Exhibition done by Brazilian and American artists who live in Massachusetts, and a traditional Brazilian dance called “Forró’. While there, feel free to get to know more about BRACE.

We have been helping the community for 10 years now, and hope that we have many more years of services ahead of us. Our commitment to provide these services to the immigrant community allowed us to establish a unique relationship with the community and our donor companies, who are the main reasons why we were able to continue over the years.

We would be grateful if you could confirm your participation to Liliane Costa at lilianecosta@bracema.org.
