McAuliffe Branch Book Discussion: The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

In this gothic suspense novel, biographer Margaret Lea receives a request from Vida Winter, one of Britain’s most prolific novelists, asking for her services. Intrigued by why Winter’s Thirteen Tales of Change and Desperation has only twelve tales, Lea agrees to act as Vida’s biographer. The collaboration brings forth dark secrets from Winter’s childhood at Angelfield, a now abandoned family estate. As Margaret becomes more immersed in the strange stories of Winter’s past, both women will have to confront their pasts and the weight of family secrets, and the ghosts that haunt them still.
