Enjoy reading by meeting with friends to choose, read, and discuss books together. You’ll increase your comprehension, discuss what you know, and turn reading into a social activity that encourages more reading.
Open to children grades 3-5.

African American literature was just beginning to attract national attention. Black writers published their work for a predominantly white audience. This talk explores two important authors, W.E.B. DuBois and Charles W. Chesnutt, who were both published by Boston’s Houghton Mifflin & Co.
