Learn the basics of visible mending. Beginners welcome. I will teach six or seven basic stitches which can be used to mend almost any kind of textile. Bring items in need of repair with you so you can get started. Beginners can make a sampler using the stitches and techniques I will be teaching. All materials are supplied. To celebrate AAPI Month, we’re making Koinobori! Koinobori, meaning 'carp streamer' in Japanese, are carp-shaped windsocks traditionally flown in Japan to celebrate Tango no sekku, a traditional calendrical event which is now designated as Children's Day, a national holiday in Japan.

Kinusaiga is a Japanese art form created by Setsu Maeno in the 1980's. Originally created by tucking silks into slits cut into wood, we will be creating our own works of art using foam blocks and scraps of fabric. Registration is required and opens on May 1st.
