McAuliffe Animatinee: Inu-Oh (PG-13, 2021, 1h 38m)
Inu-Oh is born with unique physical characteristics, and the horrified adults cover his face with a mask. One day, he meets a boy named Tomona, a blind biwa player, and as Tomona plays a delicate song, Inu-Oh discovers an incredible ability to dance.

McAuliffe Evening Book Club: “True Biz” by Sara Novac
True biz? The students at the River Valley School for the Deaf just want to hook up, pass their history finals, and have politicians, doctors, and their parents stop telling them what to do with their bodies. This revelatory novel plunges readers into the halls of a residential school for the deaf, where they'll meet Charlie, a rebellious transfer student who's never met another deaf person before; Austin, the school's golden boy, whose world is rocked when his baby sister is born hearing; and February, the headmistress, who is fighting to keep her school open and her marriage intact, but might not be able to do both. As a series of crises both personal and political threaten to unravel each of them, Charlie, Austin, and February find their lives inextricable from one another's—and changed forever.

Lifelong Learning: Back to the Future: Food Conservation Posters in the United States 1917-1918
Presented by Janet Schwartz, MS, RD, Emeritus Professor and former Chair of the Department of Food and Nutrition, FSU
If you think the United States can’t reduce its food waste, think again and go “back to the future.”
During World War I, the government asked Americans to change their food habits to “win the war” by reducing food waste and reducing their sugar, wheat, fat, and meat intake. Posters and local libraries were used to change food habits of Americans.
Professor Schwartz presents the posters and draws comparisons between the food and nutrition messages in 1917 and 2023.

Join us at McAuliffe as we put our wits to the test to help the Fellowship save Middle Earth. Celebrate Frodo and Bilbo's birthday playing this Lord of the Rings escape room. Game play will take around an hour and is intended for players age 10 and up.

“Gather Hear Louisiana”: Film Screening & Piano Concert
Join us for an event that explores how classical music intertwines with America through the lens of pianist Miki Sawada. Miki traveled through Louisiana with a U-Haul and an upright piano, performing spontaneously anywhere people would listen.
Screen the short film about this adventure, which premiered at Independent Film Festival Boston. Following the screening, Miki performs solo piano works by Florence Price, George Walker, and Franz Schubert.
